About Me.

I currently hold the position of Network Administrator at The Madeira School, an elite boarding and day high school for girls in grades 9-12 located just outside of Washington, D.C. I consider myself a information technology generalist and I bring both the customer service and the hard and soft technology skills required for working in a high school collaborative and educational environment.

Prior, I've only worked at one independent school, Burgundy Farm Country Day School, enrolling grades K-8 and a school which prides themselves on teaching students a progressive education curricula and their secondary wilderness campus in West Virginia. My Director and I supported the management of the lower school's iPad program, middle school 1:1 Chromebook program and faculty MacBooks. Other administrative functions included managing the Google Apps for Education online infrastructure and addressing both macOS and iOS devices. I was also a member of the Diversity Committee and I have taken bits and pieces to apply those to my Equity Team member role at The Madeira School.

I am a community advocate and information professional by trait. I love to travel and explore different areas of the country (by air, train and automobile). My newest craze is to complete (not compete) marathon running in new regions where my travels have not brought me....and by exploring these new regions have also shed light into different viewpoints and stories from individuals along my way. My goal is to continue my endeavors in an academic environment where I can assist both educators and students in their curiosities working with technology in a meaningful way and the impact  technology has right now and in the future.

RaceRaves - My Race Log

RaceRaves.png

I do a lot of recreational running (I only compete against myself). I sign up for half-marathons at the last minute and I have even completed two full-marathons within this year. You may check my past locations and race times (they are not fast times) but I have made peace with that and the soreness that comes with running. I am also a member of both [Double Agent Status] in the Half-Fanatics and Marathon-Maniacs group!

My Photography Portfolio

PoCC TRA.png

I am a freelance photographer, based in the greater Washington region. I primarily focus my images and stories around my travels, college atmosphere, urban architecture, environmental landscapes and how these relate to the human experience. I might say that I’m just mesmerized by how beautiful our world is. There are so many places far and wide, all unique and different with a story to be told. My images present the story of wonderful people and all these places great and small, through my perspective. For me, photography is my way of capturing that story, that feeling, those words… and how I tell my story. The world through my eyes, with my words.

My Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Engagement and Story

I am currently club advisor to the Asian Pacific Islander Association and Equity Team member at The Madeira School. My parallel track in my academic programs have taught me the impact of the vast inequities in society and in the information world that have caused me to step up and be that advocate for change and for those marginalized groups who do not have a voice. I have attended the People of Color Conference (PoCC) four times and the Asian Educators Alliance (ASEA) twice. As a fellow Person of Color, PoCC provides an safe space for the gathering of educators of different racial backgrounds to voice their ideas, thoughts, and feelings in their own Affinity Groups. Moreover, this conference has provided me with fulfilling a commitment to network and educating myself and my fellow educators about racial equity and social justice issues that apply to both adults and students within independent schools. At PoCC Seattle, I, along with fellow educators and my co-presenters Jenny Hammond, Tina Fox, and Amanda Friedman facilitated a workshop titled The Hidden Side of Transracial Adoptees at Our Schools.
